Today was the biggest adventure of college so far. A group of 9 of us (me, Janie, Boris, Justin, Sarah, Michelle, Leah, Emily, and Jill) decided we wanted to go to downtown Columbus, just for the hell of it. So we decided to ride the COTA bus (Columbus bus system), which is excessively confusing. We tried looking it up online, but it was basically really unhelpful. So somehow I got put in charge of calling the bus company all the time to figure out where we were supposed to go to get the right bus. We did finally make it to Columbus, where there was a really artsy street festival going on. We saw a free performance of this comedy group, a couple bands, an old guy dancing with his cane, and a huge mural being painted. We ate at this fantastic pizza place, but I think the pizza had a little too much garlic sauce on it. Then, once again, we weren't sure of the right bus to get on. So I called COTA again, and we found the station with 10 minutes to spare. The ride back to campus was really weird. We were basically the only white people on the bus for the entire ride, and some of the other passengers were very interesting. The guy by Janie was about 50, and asked her for her number. The guy next to me told me to come to his tattoo parlor with him, and then told my friend Jill that she had a beautiful smile. All in all, very crazy. But we finally made it back to Westerville. Now we're all studying in Battelle. Boris, Justin, and Leah have to finish Left Behind by Monday, and they all procrastinated. Michelle and I were doing math, and Daniel is doing some type of English I think.
Yesterday was reasonably fun. We went to the root beer keg party at the Spiritual Growth House. I met another math major there, which made me excited because I hadn't really met anyone else yet with my major. Well, unless you count Boris's roommate Jeff, but he's kind of strange. Then we stayed up really late and went on a second doughnut run.
Yesterday afternoon I finally got a work study job! I hadn't even thought about the Math Lab, because you're supposed to finish Calc 2 before you become a tutor. But since I couldn't find another job easily, I decided to just talk to the lady in charge of math tutors. It turns out that she's a very nice lady, who I think I really like. She said that they're so desperate for tutors that she'll just pair me up with an older student so if someone needs a tutor for Calc 2 then the other student can help them. But in the winter I'll be able to tutor solo, lol. I'm very excited. She seemed really pleased that I've actually been a tutor before. She gave me a tour and stuff, and I met some of the administrative ladies. They found out I was a freshman, and they were like, "Oh we have a lifer!" Haha so I guess that means I won't have to ever look for a work-study job again. You get a $.25 raise every year, which is also awesome!
Tomorrow I'm checking out a church in the morning and possibly one in the evening. That way if I like one of them, I'll know which one to go to next week. I also just really have to do laundry. I've been putting it off for the past 2 days. So, I'd better go. Justin and I just had epic Knights of Cydonia playing on 2 laptops... fun fun. My roommate's out of town so I think I'm gonna watch a movie.
