Losing Touch [28 Apr 2009|03:23pm]

So it's been a couple weeks since I've written here.. not much has happened.

This past weekend was a blast.  On Saturday we went to Kait's brother's house to do laundry for free.  They have 2 little kids so we played with them for a bit.. it was very enjoyable.  It was just me, Kait, and Michelle for the day.  (future roomies!)  We got back pretty late, read Cosmo in my room for awhile, then hooked up with the guys to play capture the flag.  We ended up doing that for a good 2 hours.  Sunday started out great for me.  I got up early and went for a jog on the bike trail before it got too hot.  Came back and got a shower, Boris called me for lunch, so the 2 of us went over to the CC.  While we were sitting there, I had the brilliant idea to go to the beach.  (Alum Creek has a beach, apparently).  Boris was like, well if we're gonna go to the beach, why don't we go to my house and get kayaks?  So in half an hour, we put together this big adventure of the 5 of us (me, Boris, Michelle, Kait, and Justin) going to Boris's house, picking up kayaks (for the boys) and getting snacks, compliments of Mr. Hinderer, and hanging out at Buck Creek State Park all day.  We didn't go back to Otterbein until 10pm ish.  It was a ridiculously good time.

This week has been decent so far.  I had a calc 4 midterm this morning, and I think it went well.  I got my Western Civ test back, got a 96 on it.  Got a 101 on Discrete Math.  So I'm thinking I'm pretty homefree for the rest of the quarter.

The stress factor lately has been money.  Something got messed up with our monthly payments to the school and we owe them an extra $1600 or something.  But fortunately, it's almost taken care of.  It just has to be all paid by May 19, because that's room-picking day for next year.  I need to schedule, too.  But I can't do that until May 6, anyway.  That's the day for next year's sophomores to start scheduling.  I have mine all made up though.. it looks good.

Fall Quarter:  Calc 3, Implementation of Software Components, French I, and piano
Winter Quarter:  Statistics, Software Engineering: Design of Component-Based Software, Problem Solving Seminar, Physics: Revolutions (the easy integrative studies required science class... but geared towards math majors somehow?) and piano
Spring Quarter:  Transition to Advanced Math, French II, Theory of Computation, Philosophy and Human Nature, and piano

Sounds like a fun year to me.

Well, so far spring break has consisted of nothing but nonstop facebooking and IMing with everyone from college.  Apparently we just can't handle being apart, lol.

On Thursday I got my hair cut.  Nothing too exciting... I just got it trimmed.  I'm trying to decide how long I want it to be... I'll just let it grow for now.  Yesterday was also the big text-hoax day, haha.  Just about everyone I know got one of those texts, even the people out in Ohio.  I went to Walmart last night, and I came back alive, most amazingly.  It was also on the news this morning... which proved my internet research correct.  It started in Memphis in 2005.  So if we're going to keep on being scared of Walmart, let's just remember that we made it through 4 years without being attacked by gang members.  The funniest thing about the whole ordeal though is that today I was in Walmart again, waiting in line and talking to Rachel on the phone.  We briefly talked about the whole text thing, and this little old lady in front of me in line was like, "oh you heard about that too? " And I just had this mental picture of this old lady checking her text messages... haha it made me laugh.  She probably just saw it on the news.

Today I did a lot of shopping.  I managed to spend all of my tax refund money, haha.  I didn't buy any shorts or t-shirts today though.  That's tomorrow.  The thing I bought today that I'm most excited about are my new shoes... they are white pumas with pink and brown stripes.  They're really cute and I'm excited.  I love buying new shoes =D

Also started reading Wideacre today.  It's by Phillipa Gregory, an author that Kaitlyn and I love.  I don't know if Kait has ever read this one... I'll have to ask her.  It's part of a trilogy, and it's my goal to finish the first 2 books before break is over.  Shouldn't be a problem... I got 88 pages in today.

So I guess I've been ridiculously busy.

I won't even try to update day by day, because it's been over a week.  It will just suffice to say that I've been having a good time... just not enough free minutes to update.  Well, I guess I could quit playing Bubble Spinner so much.

It's great... if you want to be addicted to it for the rest of your life, here it is: http://www.addictinggames.com/bubblespinner.html

Jack and I are always competing to beat each other's high scores.  What lame college students we are.  We skip out on homework and hanging out with each other to play Bubble Spinner.  lol.

Jack is still pledging, so he's super busy.  Most days I don't see him until after dinner.  We chill for about 2 hours then he goes back to the Kings house for more pledging stuff.  Some nights I spend the night... we're trying to get through Lord of the Rings.  Actually, I think we only have the 2nd half of Return of the King left.  It's taken us 2 weeks to get that far, haha.  Spending the night is nice... I don't know what we'll do next quarter though... his roommate will be back.  But Valerie has another prospective guy, so we'll work something out.  We were just talking about it yesterday.  The plan is, hook Jacob's roommate up with a girl without a roommate, Val spends the night in Jacob's room sans roommate, and Jack comes up to our room.  Haha... we'll see how that works I guess.

Well, it's Wednesday and I'm super busy.  I have to get a shower right now, then off to anthro and computer science.  Then to the math lab and dinner and more math lab, and piano practicing sometime in there too.  Fortunately, this is week 7.  Only 3 weeks left of the quarter after this week.  Sweeeet.  Next quarter I will only have 16 credits, which sounds so good right now.

I've decided that I really dislike the first half of the week.  Like, Monday through Wednesday.  I'm not looking forward to it at all.

As soon as I got back to school I shared the Oram's donuts, which everyone liked.  They had the disadvantage of not being able to eat them fresh.  But they were still good, I thought.  After that we decided to get Chinese for dinner.  Pretty uneventful.  So we ate that down in the lounge, while everyone told me how the weekend was.  Apparently they played Rockband drunk, and Michelle and Carrissa spent the night in Jack's room.  Lol.  Jack had only gone home for one day, so he was there for the drunk Rockband.  After we finished up the Chinese, Michelle, Jack, and I went to Battelle.  I had to practice and they were studying.  We went back to Jack's room after that, to play Rockband.  Lol, we really need to quit doing it so much.  But it's the world tour version or whatever, and our band (Ethics for Pandas) needs to beat the game, we've decided.  I made a drummer named Maria, who kind of looks like an anorexic, punk rock hippie.  It's great.  Michelle left though, so it was just me and Jack.  He's a very cool guy.  I LOVE his hair.  He doesn't have a facebook, but once I get a picture of him I'll put it up.  His hair reminds me of Mathew's, except blond and a little thinner.  It's cute though.

Tomorrow I have 2 tests... linear algebra and anthropology.  I studied for anthropology quite a bit over the weekend.  I'm a little wary of linear algebra, mostly because it's at 8am.  I'll have to make some coffee tomorrow morning.  After those I'm kind of set for the day though.  I only have to work 1 hour in the math lab, and Michelle and I have plans to go work out.  Val brought back some Disney VHS movies, so I think I might watch one of those tomorrow, lol.

It kills me to know that while I am going to class all day today, almost everyone under 18 gets to stay at home.  ugh.  Walking to the Rike Center in -9 degree weather SUCKS.

Doctor's appointment yesterday was sort of weird.  Kyle was supposed to drive me, but his car ran out of oil.  So I called Matt, who left class early to drive me (what a sweetie =D).  So he dropped me off, but right afterwards he got rear ended!  So he was a little late in picking me up, but it was all good.  The doctor is making me go see another doctor at OSU.  They haven't called me to make an appointment yet, but it'll probably be in the next couple weeks.  Because of this, my mom is most likely going to bring the car out for me!  I'm so stoked about that.  I'd probably just have it for 3 weeks or so, but that's ok.  It's because I might have to drive home on a weekend to see Dr. Froman.  I'm already formulating plans about this... we could have a Pittsburgh weekend like we had an Erie weekend.  Me, Boris, Justin, and Michelle could all go.  How fun would that be?

That's a long shot though.  In other news, me, Jeff, and Mitch are all really excited about the Steelers game.  They are actually showing them out here now, which is awesome.  We're gonna have a Pittsburgher party on Sunday =D

Well now I have to brave the cold to go to my last 2 classes of the day.  FUN.

Really, not much at all has happened in the last few days.

Some noteworthy things were:
1.  Finally seeing Allison.  We exchanged Christmas presents and had a nice chat before she had to work.
2.  Jumonville reunion.  I only spent one night there, which really was enough for me.  The only people there that I really wanted to see were Kelly, Chelsea, Jimmy, and Cliff.  Everyone else that I wouldn't have minded seeing wasn't able to make it, and everyone else who was there weren't my favorite people in the world.  I went down after my doctors appointment on Monday and stayed the night.  Unfortunately, I had to leave at 6:45 in the morning to get back in time for some thing my mom had to do at 9.
3.  I officially have asthma... but it was just a matter of time really.  Everyone else in my family has it except for my dad.  And mine isn't very bad at all.  I just have to use my inhaler before I exercise or run around outside or something.
4.  I also have acid reflux.  That also wasn't a surprise.  And I'm really hoping they have another flavor of pepcid complete besides mint, because that's what my mom bought and it SUCKS.
5.   mountaingear.com finally gave my my $65 back, which I promptly spent at the mall today.  Well, not all of it.  I needed some new camis and I bought The Last Lecture at Borders.
6.  I put my application in for an internship at Google in Pittsburgh.  I doubt they will hire me since I'm just a freshman, but it's worth a try.  Anything's worth a try if it means possibly having a better job.  I'm trying to speed along the process of getting to the good job point in my life.  I guess we'll see how that goes.

That's about it.  I really need to start packing my stuff back up.  Everything sort of migrated.  I had all the college stuff in one corner of my room so it would be easy to pack everything again, but everything is in completely different parts of my room and the rest of the house now.  So I think I'll start the packing tomorrow.  Tomorrow is also my last day of work!!!

Merry Christmas!  After getting about 20 text messages, I sent out the obligatory message back out to everyone, haha.

This Christmas has been pretty different.  My mom got the stomach flu yesterday morning, and I had to go to work all afternoon.  When I got back, I found out that my dad had taken my mom to the emergency room because she was dehydrated.  They were there for about 5 hours, so Brian and I took Christmas into our own hands.  We put all the bows on our own presents, and put them under the tree.  We made the Chex mix, for ourselves.  And the whole time, we blasted the Holiday Traditions channel on the xm radio.  We actually had a lot of fun.

This morning was still fun.  My mom felt a little better, so she could open presents with us.  Considering I didn't ask for anything particular, I still got good stuff.  Well, I asked for the special edition of Wall-E, which I got. =D  My mom also got me a Wall-E blanket.  Haha... that's so great.

Possibly the best present is a 640 GB external hard drive.  I remember mentioning to my mom about 6 months ago that it would be nice to have one.  Haha she did a good job!  Brian did a really good job, too.  He's getting really good at picking out presents for people.  I think he's better at it than the average guy, lol.  He got me a Steelers terrible towel for me to take to college (he says I need to show my Steelers pride out there in Ohio, haha) and an Order of the Phoenix poster.  It's not as big as a regular poster so I should be able to find a spot for it in my dorm.

But this year I was so much more excited to give our presents to my mom.  I think Brian and I did a damn good job picking out stuff for her.  And she loved everything, which has totally made my day.

Now we're just waiting until my dad's brother & sister get here.  (Uncle Tony and Aunt Jill).  My grandma's coming over tomorrow, and Aunt Linda (my mom's half-sister) is coming next week sometime. Oh joy.  She's kind of annoying.  But that's what you get at Christmas I guess... the annoying family members.

Hope everyone's having a great Christmas!

p.s.  Brian got Prince Caspian, which means I can watch it and look at Ben Barnes's lovely face. =D

25 days until I go back to school.

Nick's concert was really good last night.  It was nice to see him.  I saw Dr. Gage as well... he's the director of ysyo.  He attempted to make me feel guilty for quitting the clarinet.  It didn't work, haha.  He was one of the people out there who was set on seeing me become a music major.  Oh well.  I tried to redeem myself by telling him that I have a music scholarship and I still play the piano, but he still didn't seem happy.

I cleaned my room today.  That's really about it.  I facebooked quite a few people from Jumonville.  I miss everyone but I'm pretty glad I'm not going to spend another summer there.

I guess tomorrow I should practice Christmas music for Saturday.  At least tomorrow has the possibility of a Sal Val trip with Rachel.  I love that place.

I just downloaded a ton of stuff.  One of the sites I end up finding a lot of stuff at is a French web hosting site, so they have a lot of foreign stuff.  French people have very good tastes in music.

I'm very bored tonight.  I should probably go try to find something to do before I just decide to go to bed at 9pm.

Not much to say about the last few days.

Some key events:

1.  I have a job.  I am a greeting/shelf-tidying/bagging slave at JCPenney.  go me.
2.  Playing so much Christmas music so much really sucks.  But this is turning out to be the easiest $100 I've ever made.
3.  Grades are out for fall quarter.  All A's, except for an A- in my INST class.  So my gpa is 3.9, but I'm still on the dean's list!
4.  My books for next quarter are going to cost less than last quarter, even though I have an extra class.  Strange.
5.  Brian and I hung out ALL day today.  It was great.

That's about it.  I also did some facebook creeping to get lots of good pictures to develop.  I didn't have time to do that before I left for school so my wall was very bland while Valerie had tons of pictures of her and her friends everywhere.  But I figured out the best places to put pictures, so now I need some to be actually developed!  So some of your pictures might be on my wall now, lol.

Hopefully I'll be hanging out with some people this weekend.  That would be a nice break in the monotony.

Break has gone by fast so far, but that's only because I've been busy.  Everyone was here at the same time as me for a few days, but now everyone's gone :(

But here's a quick summary of the last few days:
Thursday:  Thanksgiving.  Good times... can't really go wrong there.
Friday:  Black Friday.  My mom went out super early (like 5am) and came back to get me at 9.  I got 2 sweaters.  The whole point was to eventually get to Penneys for a job interview, but she called me and canceled it half an hour in advance.  So I'm still waiting on the job thing.
Friday evening:  On the verge of being bored, I called Mathew.  I had been planning to go see Jillian that night, but I figured I'd see Mathew too.  We were going to drive out to see Rachel, but things happened and we didn't do that... we ended up just driving around and talking.  It was super nice.  I've missed him.  We went to the Beaver Falls Christmas parade with Jillian, Jabez, and Jen.  After that was over we played Apples to Apples for about 3 hours, haha.  After a late-night trip to Sheetz, the night was over.
Saturday:  Not much during the day.  Ice skating in the evening with huge group though.
Sunday:  For some reason, Sunday seemed like it was talk-to-friends-from-college day.  I talked to Boris, Justin, Kim, and Nicole.  Basically everyone's saying the same thing: Break is nice, but we're gonna be ready to go back sooner rather than wait until January 4.
Today:  Definitely not much today.  Shopping with Mom and Grandma.  Filled out another job application (Bath & Bodyworks).  This whole job thing is going pretty slow.  If Sears would just call me... *sigh*

So since friends are gone, I think I'm just gonna do a lot of reading.  There are quite a few books I've been wanting to read but I didn't have time at school.  Also, apparently I'm playing Christmas piano background music at Beaver's winter dance.  So I just have to play a lot of Christmas stuff from now until December 13 so I'll know enough stuff.  Too bad I find Christmas music on the piano slightly boring and repetitive... but money is money.

So I feel like I've updated a million times in the last couple days.  But it's ok... I'm finally home!  First night in the beav = good times.  Got to drive around without a curfew and make the trek in the snow to the movie theater to watch Twilight again.  Met Jabez and Jen, Jillian's friends.  Tomorrow's lunch at HDS!  Love that place.

Brian attacked me in the driveway, but I put him to work carrying my stuff.  I figure all that extra excitement could be transformed into energy to carry heavy stuff.  He didn't seem to care.  He wanted to get working on his LOTR playstation game like, right as soon as I walked in the door.  But I had to tell him I was going out... it was late by then anyway and I wasn't in the mood for annoying ps2 games.

Car ride home really sucked!  We left Otterbein at 2:30.  We got on 71, and we seriously were on that road for a good 3 hours.  There was an accident and we went about 3 miles in an hour and a half.  It was ridiculous.  So we didn't pull into the driveway until 8 or so.  If I ever have to spend that much time coming home from college again, I just might die.

So anyway, that's the story.  I have to cram in time with everyone this week before they go back, then it'll just be me here, attempting to have a good time for the other 5 weeks.  But I know I'll still love it.  I love having my room back and my computer with sims2 (lame, I know).  And Brian of course.  I've missed him soooo much!

This weekend has been such a great girls' weekend.  Since Boris and Justin went on the "Man Trip" with Boris's friends, I was worried I'd be bored.  But it has been totally the opposite.

Thursday night was Twilight.  It was SO good!  Some parts were kinda cheesy, but I was expecting that.  I think they did a good job capturing all the right things from the book.  Friday was the last day of classes, and I hung out with Boris a little bit before he left.  Friday night Val and I watched a super cheesy Christmas chick flick.  Then I started reading New Moon.  Kim and Nicole are just reading Twilight for the first time, so I figured I should reread the series, because I'd only read it once.  So I finished New Moon and I'm reading Eclipse now.  There hasn't been much else to do during the day.

Last night Nicole, Kim, and I had a shopping night.  We went to Polaris and went to quite a few different stores.  I got some boots, a zip-up hoodie from Aeropostale, and a new purse.  We also had to go to Target to get presents for the 4th floor secret santa thing.  I also got some junk food to get me through finals, lol.  Then we went to Taco Bell for dinner.  All in all, a very good night.

I have to start studying today, though.  And packing!  I'll be gone from here for 6 weeks so I have to pack stuff!  Now that things are winding down, it seems like time is speeding up.  I'm so excited!!!  My mom is picking me up Tuesday afternoon!

It was a group shot with me, Boris, Justin, Leah, and Michelle.

Who's car were you in last other than yours?

Well, today McCain came to Otterbein.  It was kind of short notice.. we only found out a few days ago.  I had a ticket but I overslept, and I was kind of angry about it, lol.  Even though I'm probably not voting for McCain, it's the type of thing you should go to, I think.  He might end up being the president, so it was pretty cool that he came to Otterbein, of all places.  Like I said though, I overslept so I ended up not going.

Yesterday was Homecoming.  Basically it was a bunch of old people that went to Otterbein in the good old days.  Justin was with his family and Leah was at home, so that left me and Boris.  We ate together and looked at everything that was going on.  Then we met up with Steve (a cello major who is very sweet) and the 3 of us went to the football game.  We stayed until halftime because Steve and I wanted to see the band.  Their show wasn't that great, but I think it's because they learned a new one for Homecoming and they didn't get much time to work on it because of the rain earlier this week.  They have a nice sound, though.  Especially in the brass and drumline.  They have about 20 trumpets and they sounded really good I thought.  Steve played the trombone in high school so he and I could actually talk about the band.  Boris was in marching band for 2 years and he says he sucked at it so he wasn't as interested.  It was a weird experience sitting in the student section.  The band was right behind us though, so in a way it was very much like sitting with the band.  They do a lot more elaborate cheers than we did.  They do Eat em up, but there's more harmony and they yell something different.  They also did a variation of Penguin Cheer... I don't know what they call it here though, haha.  And the Otterbein fight song is thoroughly engrained in my head, because the parade woke me up on Saturday and that's all they were playing.

Tonight Leah, Justin, and Carissa went to Target to buy Clue.  That's where they are right now.  For some reason, we all really want to play it but none of us has it, and none of the res halls have it, so we're just buying it.  We're gonna play that tonight I guess.

Oh.  I just went to Boris's room to get my Harry Potter Scene It back (it's been sitting there for 3 days).  He wasn't there, it was just Jeff.  Jeff gave me some chai tea.  Weird?  He said his sister-in-law brought it for him but he doesn't like tea.  I actually love chai tea.  So I just took it... whatever.  So now I have a whole box of it.  *sigh*

01. What time do you wake up in the morning?
Weekdays, like 7ish because I have an 8am class. But for weekends, anything goes.

02. If you eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?
J.R.R. Tolkien, if he was still alive. Since he isn't, I'd have to go with someone random like Billy Boyd.

03. Gold or silver?
Silver. My great-grandma's ring (which is now mine!) is silver.

04. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
That stupid Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie. The last GOOD movie I saw was The Dark Knight.

05. Favorite TV show?
Grey's Anatomy!!!

06. What do you have for breakfast?
Otterbein cafeteria's cheesy eggs, bacon, and an english muffin. Usually 1 or 2 of those things.

07. Who would you hate to be left in a room with?
A creeper. lol. Seriously though, there are a lot of creepers in college, and I don't want to be in a room with them.

08. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?
No.

09. What inspires you?
Music, beautiful scenery. Silence to go along with the scenery.

10. What's your middle name?
Lynn. My parents have a thing for double letters.

11. Beach, city or country?
Country is very cool, because it's relaxing and not as noisy. But I can also appreciate the city. I've never been to a "real" beach, so I can't have an opinion about that.

12. Summer or winter?
Fall. That's closer to winter, so I guess I like winter better. But fall is my favorite.

13. Favorite ice cream?
chocolate chip cookie dough.

14. Favorite time of the day?
When you lay down in your bed after a long day. I love the feeling you get as soon as you lay down.

15. Favorite color?
Orange. It didn't used to be, but in the past few months, it has become my favorite.

16. Favorite car?
I'm a Hyundai person. I like the Hyundai we have now, and I also like the Sonata.

17. Favorite sandwich filling?
my mom's chicken salad.

18. True love?
It'll happen to me someday. If it doesn't, I'll be an old maid.

19. What characteristics do you despise?
Too much of an ego. Some ego is okay, but it can't be out of control.

20. Favorite flower?
I like a lot of flowers... But I really like the bleeding heart plant where the flowers are shaped like little hearts.

21. If you had a big win in the lottery, how long would you wait to tell people?
I would pay for college with it. After that, there wouldn't be any money left to tell people about.

22. Fizzy or still water to drink?
I'll drink anything that comes out of the faucet. As long as it's not a funny color.

23. What color is your bathroom?
At home, it's light blue and yellow. At college, it's a bland white.

24. How many keys on your ring?
Car key, room key, and everything else on my key ring is random.

25. Where would you retire to?
Europe somewhere. But I would only go there if I wasn't alone. (i.e. my husband should retire there too)

26. Can you juggle, how many?
I can juggle 2 things, but I'm not really sure if that counts.

27. Favorite day of the week?
Probably Friday, because I only have 1 class and we stay out late.

28. Red or white wine?
White Zinfandel is my favorite.

29. What did you do for your last birthday?
Well, my parents got a cheesecake from Walmart and we ate it in their hotel room. (I was being dropped off for college that day)

30. Do you carry a donor card?
My license says I'm a donor.

I'm not sending this to anyone, I'm just bored.

32. Who is the person you expect to send this back first?
See 31.

33. Name one thing about you most people wouldn't guess?
Not sure. How about, I watch amputee porn? hahaha, I'm TOTALLY just kidding. HUGE inside joke. Seriously, one thing most people wouldn't guess... I get really into Nicholas Sparks books, then I cry when they end sadly.

Sunday was epic laundry day. I ended up not going to church anywhere... I just slept in and then did laundry all day long. It was ok though, because Justin and Boris were also doing laundry for a good part of the day. Then we studied in the 3rd floor of the library for no reason at all, except for the fact that we'd never been there. We decided that since we're paying huge bucks to go here, we have to utilize every square foot of campus. Tomorrow we're going to explore the top floor of Towers, because it's supposed to be haunted.

Today was just class all day. I worked in the math lab for the first time, and I think this has to be the best job ever. All you do is help people with their homework, and most of it is algebra stuff. Also, one of the office ladies gave me the name of a parent who called the college looking for a tutor for her 8th grade daughter who is in algebra. Most of the other tutors are juniors and seniors, and they are busier than I am with schoolwork, so now I get to call this woman and tell her I can tutor her daughter. I'm not complaining though, because this is just more cash that I can use for books for the winter quarter.

Boris, Leah, and I went to this pizza place in Westerville for dinner. Then we checked out an ice cream place right down the street. Westerville is actually a pretty cool little town.

Then, Boris, Justin, and I went to Battelle to study. I ended up going upstairs to practice the piano, and the boys went up too without me realizing it. So when I went down to see if they were ready to leave, they weren't there, obviously. But they had followed me downstairs and they scared me from behind, lol. It actually made me jump a little bit, because I totally wasn't expecting them to be behind me. We were going to check out the haunted room tonight, but it was locked already. So we're gonna have to go at around 10ish tomorrow, that way it's still dark but hopefully still open. Well I'd better go shower so I don't have to wake up super early tomorrow. Later!

Oh, the COTA bus. [20 Sep 2008|09:11pm]

Today was the biggest adventure of college so far. A group of 9 of us (me, Janie, Boris, Justin, Sarah, Michelle, Leah, Emily, and Jill) decided we wanted to go to downtown Columbus, just for the hell of it. So we decided to ride the COTA bus (Columbus bus system), which is excessively confusing. We tried looking it up online, but it was basically really unhelpful. So somehow I got put in charge of calling the bus company all the time to figure out where we were supposed to go to get the right bus. We did finally make it to Columbus, where there was a really artsy street festival going on. We saw a free performance of this comedy group, a couple bands, an old guy dancing with his cane, and a huge mural being painted. We ate at this fantastic pizza place, but I think the pizza had a little too much garlic sauce on it. Then, once again, we weren't sure of the right bus to get on. So I called COTA again, and we found the station with 10 minutes to spare. The ride back to campus was really weird. We were basically the only white people on the bus for the entire ride, and some of the other passengers were very interesting. The guy by Janie was about 50, and asked her for her number. The guy next to me told me to come to his tattoo parlor with him, and then told my friend Jill that she had a beautiful smile. All in all, very crazy. But we finally made it back to Westerville. Now we're all studying in Battelle. Boris, Justin, and Leah have to finish Left Behind by Monday, and they all procrastinated. Michelle and I were doing math, and Daniel is doing some type of English I think.

Yesterday was reasonably fun. We went to the root beer keg party at the Spiritual Growth House. I met another math major there, which made me excited because I hadn't really met anyone else yet with my major. Well, unless you count Boris's roommate Jeff, but he's kind of strange. Then we stayed up really late and went on a second doughnut run.

Yesterday afternoon I finally got a work study job! I hadn't even thought about the Math Lab, because you're supposed to finish Calc 2 before you become a tutor. But since I couldn't find another job easily, I decided to just talk to the lady in charge of math tutors. It turns out that she's a very nice lady, who I think I really like. She said that they're so desperate for tutors that she'll just pair me up with an older student so if someone needs a tutor for Calc 2 then the other student can help them. But in the winter I'll be able to tutor solo, lol. I'm very excited. She seemed really pleased that I've actually been a tutor before. She gave me a tour and stuff, and I met some of the administrative ladies. They found out I was a freshman, and they were like, "Oh we have a lifer!" Haha so I guess that means I won't have to ever look for a work-study job again. You get a $.25 raise every year, which is also awesome!

Tomorrow I'm checking out a church in the morning and possibly one in the evening. That way if I like one of them, I'll know which one to go to next week. I also just really have to do laundry. I've been putting it off for the past 2 days. So, I'd better go. Justin and I just had epic Knights of Cydonia playing on 2 laptops... fun fun. My roommate's out of town so I think I'm gonna watch a movie.
